Sleeper train from Budapest to Bucharest

Travel on the overnight sleeper train from Bucharest (Hungary) and arrive in Budapest (Romania) the following morning.

The 'Ister' overnight sleeper night train departs from Budapest in the early evening and arrives in to Bucharest at a very civilised time of 10.37am the following morning.


Save having to stay overnight in a hotel: whether for business or leisure, as the train whisks you through the Carpathian mountains to Bucharest, the capital city of Romania and the gateway to Transylvania.

Sleeping arrangements: Air-conditioned 1-, 2- or 3-bed standard sleeper carriages (with washbasin), couchettes with 4- & 6-berth compartments, and ordinary seats.

Budapest to Bucharest tickets provided by both Hungarian Railways www.mavcsoport.hu and Romanian Railways bileteinternationale.cfrcalatori.ro. Alternatively, you could buy an Interrail ticket, which covers both Hungary and Romania.

Tickets for Eurostar and trains throughout Europe provided by Rail Europe.
