Train and Ferry from UK to Holland – Rail & Sail Dutchflyer ticket

Here's our guide to the handy all-in-one 'train + ferry' ticket for combining train travel from London and any Greater Anglia railway station with the ferry crossing from Harwich International Port (in the East of England) across the North Sea to Hoek van Holland port in the Netherlands.

That's one ticket for the entire journey: railway journey in Greater Anglia and ferry to Holland.

Known as the 'Dutchflyer Rail & Sail', the all-inclusive ticket is provided by Stenaline and costs from as little as £75.30 one-way for both the train journey and the ferry crossing on one of Stena Line's two Superferries across to Holland.

Greater Anglia trains conveniently depart from London Liverpool Street, Ipswich, Colchester, Norwich and Cambridge directly to Harwick.

It's just a short walk from Harwich railway station to the ferry terminal building, and it's the same when you arrive in the Hoek van Holland (you may see it called 'Hook of Holland'): it's just a short walk off the ferry to the metro station outside the ferry terminal where Line B trains run to Rotterdam where you can change to trains to Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Sail Rail Dutchflyer Ticket Price and Timetable

The Dutchflyer tickets can be bought online at Stena Line Rail Sail. The all-inclusive ticket enables you to use both the day service (ie leaving Harwich in the morning and arriving in to Hook of Holland in the afternoon) or the overnight service (ie leaving Harwich in the evening and arriving in to Hook of Holland the following morning), and vice-versa coming back from Holland to Harwich.

Tickets cost from £75.30 one way (£37.65 for children under 15) – yes that the inclusive price for both the train and the ferry all the way from whichever Greater Anglia railway station you board the train to the ferry departure at Harwich International Ferry Port and across the North Sea by ferry to the Hook of Holland port. This is regardless of whether you need to change trains within Greater Anglia - the Sail Rail ticket covers the entire train journey as well as the ferry crossing.

NB. Fares may be higher on peak dates or at short notice.

The Rail Sail ticket can also be purchase for the one-way journey in the other direction, e.g. from the Hook of Holland across the Northish Sea by ferry and the onward journey by train to whichever Greater Anglia railway station you want to go to (again, regardless of whether you need to change trains within Greater Anglia to reach your final railway station).

The Stenaline Dutchflyer operates an open rail ticket which means that you can travel to Harwich at whichever time is most convenient to you, though you should allow plenty of time (at least 45 minutes, ideally more) to connect with the ferry at Harwich.
