Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwest France is the largest region in France. Home to Bordeaux (just two hours by high-speed train from Paris), Biarritz and the Pays Basque, Cognac, Pau and the Pyrenees, the Dordogne Valley, Limoges, and Poitiers, it has an extensive coastline with sandy beaches from Bayonne to La Rochelle, the 110-metre-high Dune du Pilat, and islands such as Ile de Ré and Ile d’Oléron.
