Self-guided walking holiday in Gran Canaria

The small island of Gran Canaria contains grand scenery surpassing its size - peaks rise to nearly 2,000 metres, with crags and imposing rock formations, towering over wide open spaces where black volcanic cones contrast with vibrant green forests of Canarian pine trees.

The walking is dramatic, and our route starts in a valley in the central mountains from where you walk northwards to the sea passing through three very distinct landscapes, comprising the volcanic interior, the quiet northwest coast, and the green, pastoral landscapes in between. You will enjoy spectacular views at every turn, which stretch as far as the island of Tenerife, dominated by its own volcano, El Teide.

Gran Canaria lies at the centre of the Canary Islands Archipelago and is a fantastic activity holiday destination year round. Known as the 'Island of Continents', it boasts expansive golden beaches and a mountainous, volcanic interior that is home to the iconic Roque Nublo.

What our customers say:

Mr Tollan of North Yorkshire
The quality, variety and challenge of the walks was immensely rewarding with the circular walk from Tejeda encompassing the ascent to Roque Nublo as the standout. This particular walk has some amazing sections and vistas which made for one of our most satisfying and memorable days walking ever.

Mr Nafzger of Hertfordshire
Four amazingly contrasting hotels, very cleverly selected. We shall remember our two dinners at Casa Del Caminero for a long time! Difficult [to select a highlight] when the scenery was spectacular most of the time, and the walks were so satisfying. The excellent weather helped a lot!

Mrs Tyson of Oxfordshire
We enjoyed all the walking and the hospitality (each day offered different scenery/vegetation which fascinated us) but particularly memorable was the optional walk around and to Roque Nublo (we did the extra ascent to the rock where the views were amazing).
