Luxury Camping
If you fancy a night under the stars, getting back to nature and relaxing away from hectic modern life, but you're not quite ready to give up all your luxuries, rest assured, you're one of many, and the number of luxury campsites across the UK and Europe is growing rapidly to keep up with demand. Camping no longer has to mean a struggle to light the portable gas stove followed by a night of discomfort, separated only from the hard - or muddy - ground by a thin layer of plastic sheeting. From tipis and yurts to restored caravans, there's no end of options for an unconventional camping break with more than its fair share of creature comforts - often in some of the most beautiful settings around, and we've picked out some of the best (and greenest), below.

Cornish Tipi Holidays, Cornwall
Not glamping, not tramping, just real camping made easy in a beautiful and private place. Sit round your own camp fire, fish and swim in the sparkling lake, drift through butterflies or run on the wild Atlantic beach. Price: £98 (village field) £110 (private site) per night. Prices based on 2 people for a 7-night stay in peak season. Short breaks are available.

Broxtead
Glamp it up on the 3000 acre Broxtead country estate in an authentic tipi, or opt to stay in one of their newly converted Suffolk barns. The tipis themselves stand on large wooden decks in two separate locations, each sleeping up to eight adults. They both come with their own fire hearth inside for cosy nights under canvas and a BBQ area outside with a fire pit for cooking and heating water in the large kettle provided. The three barns sleep between two and eight people, all thoughtfully converted to preserve authentic elements of their agricultural past as such as the exposed timbers and weather boards. Whilst modern touches such as flat screen TV’s, free WiFi and spacious, fully equipped kitchens bring them bang up to date.

Feather Down Camping – Warren Farm
Even those usually averse to sleeping under canvas might be persuaded to bed down for the night at Feather Down Farm. This is camping of a different sort: there’s just the one (huge) tent - no noisy neighbours - which is divided into five 'rooms', with wooden floors, a big family dining table, a cosy log burner and lanterns dotted around. Set high up on a cliffside with sweeping views, you are surrounded by meadows and bleating sheep. There’s an honesty shop with all the essentials and a fire pit outside for marshmallow toasting – it truly is a kids’ paradise. There are bikes to borrow, chickens to adopt for the week (yes, really!), and luxury foodie hampers and veg boxes for your arrival, should you so desire!
