Brittany Ferries launches new service from Portsmouth to Bilbao

Brittany Ferries has launched a new route between Portsmouth and the Basque capital Bilbao in northern Spain.

Bilbao will become Brittany Ferries' first new port destination in 25 years, and this new addition means that the ferry company will now provide up to five return trips to Spain every week - two from Portsmouth to Bilbao, two from Portsmouth to Santander and one from Plymouth to Santander.

Passengers can expect the journey from Portsmouth to Bilbao to take between 24 and 32 hours, and to be serviced on both sides by fantastic new ferry terminals. Portsmouth's new International Terminal, which opened last week. New roads and drop-off areas will also improve access to and from the port, particularly for foot passengers arriving from local train stations.

Equally, the new terminal in Bilbao will boast easy access to the city's Metro system, and excellent road and train connections to Madrid and the Costa Brava, as well as Spain's far south and areas of southwest France such as Toulouse, Dordogne and the Upper Pyrenees.

Fares for a car plus two passengers start at £205 per person return including a berth in a 2-berth en-suite cabin aboard the Cap Finistere, recently refurbished to include a children's playground, cinema and cafe.
