Why we've chosen Willowford Farms:

How does Willowford Farm minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?

To reduce its draw on natural resources, rooms are insulated with Thermafleece Sheeps' wool insulation to keep heat in. Electricity is from renewable sources and heating and hot water is powered by a log-burning boiler. All food waste is composted on site and all recyclable waste is sent to local recycling firm. To minimise water consumption, all toilets are dual flush and they collect rain water for the majority of gardening needs. They serve their own organically reared beef and lamb from the farm and fresh seasonal organic fruit and vegetables from the garden. The rest of the food is sourced from nearby or ethical producers (e.g. other local producers, Suma, Fairtrade certified products). Guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport to reduce their impact on the stunning natural environment and biodiversity of Cumbria and Northumberland.
