Why we've chosen The Treehouse:

Ever wanted to fulfil that childhood dream of having your own treehouse? How about a treehouse filled with the latest luxury, from a six foot master bed with Egyptian cotton linen to a squishy leather sofa? A unique get away, the seductive Treehouse is nestled in the tree tops and made entirely of wood, with cedar shingles on the roof. Its surrounding location is stunning, with Exmoor national park and the Quantock Hill in sight.

Situated on a small farm with overlooking fields, you can watch lambs, chickens and ponies graze. There's also a large, safe enclosed garden: perfect for dining under the stars on those long summer nights or for playing with the kids in the playhouse or on the see-saw provided. Inside is every comfort. On top of the perfect views of the countryside, the Treehouse is always supplied with Egyptian cotton linen, fluffy towels, flowers, cosy bathrobes, toiletries and there is a welcoming complimentary basket of seasonal local produce for everyone to enjoy. For those winter months, the woodburning stove is left ready to be lit.

The simple, shaker style kitchen, with its beech worktop and Belfast sink adds to all that is natural and organic at The Treehouse. There is a comfortable dining area with a wonderful oak table next to the window. There is plenty of space for a family to eat and lots of opportunities to keep an eye on the animals in the fields!

In the living area is a great wood burning stove designed to compliment the under floor heating and add a focal point for those chilly evening after the hot tub. The comfy, squishy leather sofa is perfect for relaxing and a plasma TV with sky free view channels, I-pod dock and digital radio complete the area. Then enjoy the wonderful, cedar hot tub that runs on a natural seaweed enzyme in one of the three fabulous decking areas or the bathroom's own a roll top bath. What could be finer for the soul than a treetop bath?

There are also plenty of friendly local pubs within walking distance and if you're looking for some pampering there's Cedar Falls, one of the south west premier spas, only two miles away. If even that's too far My Personal Sanctuary will come and do pampering and treatments in the comfort of the Treehouse/Cottage. Let your inner child, and your real life kids, have their treehouse and rest assured that the outer adults will be happy with the creature comforts and the stunning location provided.

How does The Treehouse minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?

The Treehouse has been constructed completely of wood, including cedar roof shingles. It has been fully insulated, therefore requires minimal use of the underfloor heating. A wood burning stove is fuelled with logs that are locally coppiced for maximum efficiency and the owners also plant a native hardwood tree for each booking made. To reduce landfill waste, there is an extensive recycling system, which is well labeled and easy for guests to use.  They also use organic toiletries and eco friendly cleaning products. The hot tub is maintained with a natural, organic seaweed enzyme, rather than chemicals. To reduce draw on water resources, rainwater is collected and use in the garden.

Local food is provided wherever possible and when on the farm they produce their own meat, eggs and vegetables and will provide eggs and vegetables in the welcome basket when available. Additionally, the owners work with local suppliers who offer a delivery service which guests can preorder and they also work with a local caterer who offers ready to heat/eat menu, all locally sourced and organic where possible. The owners encourage guests to use bikes and public transport, and intend to pay for guests to use the first electric taxis from the rail station to the Treehouse, once they become available.

Top Eco Features at The Treehouse?

  • Plants a native hardwood tree for each booking made, working with a local tree planting service on the Quantock Hills.

  • Constructed totally from wood, with cedar shingles on the roof.

  • If clients bring their own bikes to the railway station, the Treehouse will pay for a taxi to Halse.

  • Works with local suppliers and buys all the hamper products from local farm shops and the Taunton farmers market.

  • Uses organic toiletries such as a hot tub that runs on a natural seaweed enzyme.

  • Has a wood burning stove in each property and all wood is seasoned and sustainably sourced.
