Why we've chosen Refugio de Nevada

This small family hotel in the village of Laroles has five en-suite bedrooms and seven suites, simply furnished but comfortable; all are named for plants endemic to the Sierra Nevada. There’s a welcoming bar and lounge, and it’s close to a public swimming pool (open high summer). With B&B, half- or full-board options, this is another great spot for exploring the many walking trails; a
local loop runs down to the hamlet of Picena in the valley below, from where a spur runs to a spectacular gorge. The main road up to the Puerto de la Ragua – the main pass over the Sierra Nevada – passes the end of the village, so there’s easy access to high-altitude walking, cycling and cross-country skiing, as well as trips to Granada and the castle of La Calahorra.
