The nature of the structure is sustainable, environmentally-friendly and assists in the reduction of CO2.

The eight new lodges include a unique range of features for guests including luxurious furnishings and fittings, their own kitchenette (for light snacks), wireless Internet access. In addition to the sustainable material used in construction, operational aspects of the lodges include water-recycling systems, recycled energy boosting and all will be equipped with high-specification furniture and natural fabrics.

All lodges include free WiFi internet connection, individual DVD players and a kitchen area allowing guest to enjoy breakfast and light meals.

There are full housekeeping services daily, as in the main hotel. Guests have full use of all hotel facilities, and the Panorama Restaurant.

How does Raven Hall Country House Hotel & Lodges minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?

Raven Hall Eco Lodges have been designed to clean and re-circulate the air and all building materials maximise heat insulation. Low energy light bulbs are used throughout the hotel, and outdoor lighting is light sensitive they only come on at night. Separate bins are used for recyclable material to reduce landfill waste. All showers are thermostatically controlled. Water is meter monitored. Water butts are used to collect rainwater which is used in the garden. All cleaning products are eco friendly. Wherever possible the owners use locally grown produce for their menu.

To minimise their impact on the natural environment and biodiversity of North York Moors National Park, public transport is available and to encourage guests to travel car-free, they offer a complimentary cup of tea and a biscuit on arrival. Additionally, the owners support and work with a local charity, Scarborough Fair Carbon, and offer guests the opportunity to reduce environmental impact of their stay.
