Eco credentials:

How do you reduce your draw on energy:
We have a solar thermal for hot water..so all the hot water during the hot months comes form solar energy. We installed a COMBI, saving system for preheating the radiators and hot water. We replaced our old boiler with a new energy-saving system based on exploitation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), and combines use of solar panels, fireplace water and air-water heat pump. The hot water produced in this way, is led to a tank which is connected to the burner heater that complements, when needed the required energy.

How you minimise the amount of waste you send to landfill:
In our kithcen we have diferent bins for organic waste. from which we make compost It is very dificult to recycle plastic .glass etc in this area because the nearest recycling bins are 35 km away. We recycle glass and organic waste(compost)

How you reduce your consumption of water:
We inform the guests about the importance of water trying to make them use less water during their stay. We also ask the guests to try to reuse their towels andthat works because we notice the guests now take care of their towels - before that we had to change towels almost every day.

How much of the food your serve is sourced locally (where possible):
All the products we use for the brekfast and cooking are locally grown. During the spring summer months we grow our own vegetables form our small organic vegetable garden,

Do you actively encourage guests to arrive on foot, by bike and by public transport?:
The region is isolated there is no public transport so all of our guests arrive by car. But we provide them with information about the trekking routes and we encourage them to go hiking, rafting etc and enjoy the nature of the region.

Additional information:
We try to use enviromentaly friendly washing material: the soap that guests use, that we use in the kitchen (sometimes can be really dificult because many guests, especially the Greeks, are not used to this way of thinking....we can see that this old mentality is starting to fade away so we try to keep people informed of our green policy through our web page, printed information in the rooms and speaking to them about it.
