Why we've chosen Pollaughan Farm Cottages

Escape to Pollaughan on the idyllic Roseland Peninsula, where in a truly peaceful setting you will find a wildlife lovers paradise. The four cottages are detached from one another and have been lovingly restored by the current owners Tim and Valerie Penny, with both children and the environment in mind. The relaxing little farmstead, provides its guests with round the clock interaction with nature and wildlife.

There are lovely sandy beaches close by and fabulous coastal walks to enjoy. Host's aga-cooked meals, using local and seasonal food, can be delivered to the cottage giving guests a complete break and chance to relax.

The family-size cottages have family-size gardens, safely fenced with a lawn. Hosts are happy to involve children of all ages in the daily animal feeding of the donkeys, sheep etc and there is even a seasonal ‘pick your own’ veggie patch to help yourself. The hosts have created a ‘home from home’, with comfortable 6ft beds which can be split into twins depending on your party, made up with cotton bed linen, thick towels and plenty of them, comfy sofas, spacious interiors and really powerful showers. Families love it here so early bookings are a must, especially in the family-size cottages.

There is full central heating for the winter months to keep guests snug. The barns are double glazed and the house has an open fire and a piano.  For the warmer months the gardens have a barbeque and furniture for al-fresco dining. There is free WiFi access in all cottages.

There is plenty to do with an all weather tennis court and a giant trampoline. Sailing, windsurfing hire and tuition are all available locally. There is even a squash court in Portscatho. Fishing and golf can also be arranged nearby and cycle trails are not far away.

In April 2006 Pollaughan Cottages became the first cottages in Cornwall to achieve a ‘Gold’ in the Green Tourism Business Scheme and have held onto that status ever since. Guests arriving by bus/train are offered a free arrrival night supper and a free ticket to explore the river by ferry.

They certainly lead from the front and now have an EV fast charge point donated by Kevin Sharpe from Zero Carbon World who is trying to provide a network UK wide of Fast charge points.

Anna ShepardReviewed by Anna Shepard:

"As well as being spacious and family-friendly, with baskets of toys and a toddler-proof garden, our cottage was remarkable for its view over the lake, which attracted dozens of varieties of bird. Best of all, our spacious double bed had high quality cotton sheets, puffy pillows and felt like five star luxury."
