Why we've chosen Pinewood Holiday Park:

Pinewood is a small, family run holiday park, located less than 2 miles from Scarborough town centre, yet with beautiful views of the Yorkshire Wolds. The only Wild West themed holiday park in the UK - with Indian tipis, cowboy camping shacks and Western wagons.

The tipis and shacks are on wooden decks, with picnic benches outside, and are simply furnished inside; with a double futon and 2 single fold out chair beds, an electric heater and sockets. Guests bring their own bedding and cooking and eating equipment. The modern tipis and the shacks are perfect for young families, with room to bring a travel cot.

The Western wagons have fixed beds for a family of 4, and a microwave, small fridge, kettle and toaster. Dogs are welcome in all the accommodation apart form the wagons. There is also a separate camping field and caravanning area. Children have a great time, making new friends and playing cowboy and Indians in the wooden area, or football and various other ball games on the playing field.

The reception sells Western related toys and gifts; like dream catchers, cowboy hats, bow 7 arrows and other souvenirs. Pinewood can be hired out as an entire site for functions such as wedding celebrations, birthday parties and corporate and charity events. Woody’s barn – a Western style saloon can also be hired out at during these group events. Pinewood has an environmental policy in place, which includes a comprehensive recycling area for customers, and metered electricity on all the pitches and accommodation.

Pinewood is the ideal base for visiting Scarborough, and the surrounding area of York, Dalby Forest, Pickering, Filey, Bridlington and Whitby. Scarborough has two terrific beaches, a Sealife Centre, boating lakes, miniature railway, the castle and a number of great museums, as well as Europe’s largest open air theatre.

Pinewood is a truly memorable holiday destination, which children, young and old, will remember for many years.

How does Pinewood Holiday Park minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?

Pinewood Holiday Park makes every effort to reduce energy consumption where possible, and actively encourage guests to follow suit. The tipis do not have any electricity and the wood used to heat them, comes from the onsite woodland. Local suppliers are used wherever possible and the tipis have been sourced and supplied within 20 miles of the site. The tipi poles are made from a local pine wood, the bases are made from old pallets. They do the majority of the work themselves on site, but always use local tradesmen when extra help is needed. They have a very organised and extensive recycle area and personally take additional recyclable products which the local council does not collect. They purchase products where packaging has been kept to a minimum, and compost all garden waste, and even mulch the grass cuttings, where it is not required to be collected.

Pinewood is only 1.5 miles from Scarborough town centre and the railway station, so guests are actively encouraged to use public transport and cycling is also a very easy low carbon option for guests. They encourage conservation and biodiversity around the property. They have planted over 250 trees/shrubs and hedging over the last 2 years, which will encourage even more wildlife to the ever growing number of animals on site.  On site, they do not provide shops, entertainment, or cafes, as they encourage guests to interact with the local community, villages, and Scarborough again, having a positive effect on their surroundings.
