Why we've chosen Llansantffraed Court Hotel, Monmouthshire, Wales

The Hotel
Llansantffraed Court is a stunning Grade 2 listed country house beautifully situated in the Usk Valley near to the Brecon Beacons National Park. This magnificent mansion, built in the style of William and Mary, nestles amidst the picturesque Monmouthshire countryside, enjoying a unique and incomparable setting, complete with ornamental trout lake. The house has the charm of a by-gone age combined with the comforts of home, in a setting of mesmerising natural splendour.

Enjoy the feeling of space and elegance as you take afternoon tea by a crackling open fire in the sitting room. Take a stroll through the landscaped gardens alongside the lake and cascading fountain. And enjoy the luxury of your room with views overlooking the grounds and rolling countryside. The characterful oak-beamed candlelit Fine Dining Restaurant is in the oldest part of the house, and the informal bar and lounge menu is available all day, with traditional afternoon tea in the drawing room. To help you to fully enjoy our beautiful surroundings, we offer alfresco dining on the terrace overlooking lawns and lake.

The Food
The menu, which changes daily, is complimented by a wide selection of fine wines and warm yet unobtrusive service. 'Food miles' and provenance is very much on the agenda. Monmouthshire is blessed with an abundance of dedicated small producers, specialising in lovingly grown or reared ingredients, and we don't have to look much further than our doorstep for about almost all of our kitchen requirements. We use rare breed and organic products wherever possible, and would rather pay a little bit more to get the very best ingredients. To give you just a flavour of the 80 different suppliers we work with, we regularly use properly-aged Long Horn, Hereford or Welsh Black Beef, sweet free-grazing Shropshire or Jacob Lamb, Old Spot or Saddleback Pork, and succulent Brecon Venison. Fresh fish is from Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula, as well as seafood from the North Wales coast.

The Rooms
All 21 bedrooms are all tastefully and individually furnished, and are fully en-suite. We offer a variety of double, twin and single rooms, and a family room as well as a four poster suite, all of which offer enviable views across our ornamental trout lake and on to the Black Mountains beyond. The bedrooms on the first floors, all individually styled with terrific views through large French style windows. All of the rooms on our second and top have the original beams, many have fireplaces, and all have atmospheric leaded dormer windows. All of the bedrooms have fluffy duvets, high quality linen and toiletries, flat screen digital TVs with radio channels, I-Pod docking stations, mini-bar, direct dial phones, remote controls, contemporary en suite bathrooms with high pressure showers, wireless seven meg broadband internet access, trouser press.

“This is a great place for a luxury house party, a family reunion or get together.  They are brilliant at hosting weddings, meetings, business seminars - so conferences and grand events are all well catered for.“
