Why we've chosen Hafod Holiday Cottage:

The Hafod estate was remodelled in the late eighteenth century by Thomas Johnes, who wanted to create his vision of paradise on earth. Today, judge for yourself whether he achieved such an ambitious objective or not by staying in this wonderful traditionally Welsh holiday cottage in its grounds. Share Johnes’ vision by exploring the ‘alpine’ walks, rivers, waterfalls, caves, rope-bridges and estate ruins which are practically on your doorstep. The cottage itself is far removed from all busy roads or distractions, situated in a peaceful and romantic idyll accessible only by quiet forest tracks. It is located in its own sheltered south-facing hollow making it truly secluded and relaxed, and even comes complete with its own pond.

  • Living and Dining Room (open plan): cast iron wood-burning stove (first basket of fuel supplied) , comfortable sofas and a dining table for 6. Note that there is no tv reception but there is a CD player and you can bring DVDs to watch in the studio. All rooms have electric night storage heating (price included). There is a pay-phone as mobile reception is poor, and the housekeeper also lives on the estate should you have any query.
  • Downstairs cloakroom
  • Kitchen: electric full-size oven, fridge (ice compartment), microwave, toaster, washing machine etc. Views and door to garden.
  • Studio bedroom: door to the garden, double bed, plus a small sofa and a TV with DVD and video players. Note that there is no TV reception.
  • Double bedroom: double bed with fine views across the landscape.
  • Twin bedroom: two single beds with fine views across the landscape.
  • Bathroom: modern style with shower over the bath.
  • Large, enclosed garden.
  • Parking for two cars.
  • Some of the best country walks in mid-West Wales start at the door.
