Why we've chosen Gutshof Kraatz

A Berlin couple who moved to Brandenburg to resurrect the family cider business have transformed the estate's dilapidated coach house and farmhouse into two beautiful places to stay. Traditional materials (hemp, clay, chalk paints) have been used throughout, shutters on the huge windows reinstated, stone floors scrubbed clean. The restaurant (as beautifully done as the houses) serves up wonderful homemade dishes, such as Kreplach (dumplings); diners are treated to a glass of apple wine with dinner on Thursday, and the farm shop stocks all the estate's wines should you wish to buy a bottle or three. The estate is surrounded by lakes, forests and orchards.

  • Guests are given a box of local Uckermark goodies on arrival
