Have a greener holiday at Gleneagles:

The Gleneagles® Hotel is a magnificent 'French chateau' set amid gently rolling hills in the heart of Scotland. Established in 1924, the hotel was soon acclaimed 'the palace in the glens' and continues to attract those in search of rest, relaxation and exhilaration.

Rooms: There are 232 rooms in the hotel, including 26 sumptuous luxury suites. Each room is individual in design and layout, with the amenities and thoughtful touches expected of a five red star resort. Guests can choose a traditional or modern approach to interior design.

Dining: Hospitality is the heart of the Gleneagles experience. Four restaurants set the highest culinary standards, including Scotland's only two Michelin stars in Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles. Elegant bars and public spaces encourage intimate conversation and quiet contemplation.

Activities: Outdoors, Gleneagles makes the most of its 850 acres. Three championship golf courses are among the very best in the world; The King's, The Queen's and The PGA Centenary, host venue for the Ryder Cup 2014. Other outdoor leisure pursuits include shooting, fishing, falconry, off-road driving and horse riding, as well as swimming in The Club's two indoor pools.

The Spa: For those who prefer to cocoon themselves away, The Spa at Gleneagles by ESPA, is a sparkling experience of treatments and healing waters, as well as ESPA Life, an innovative residential programme encompassing complementary and alternative medicine practices, lifestyle treatments and personal training.

>> What's more, this Summer holidays (27 June – 30 August 2015), kids can take advantage of a fantastic programme of activities, including sports, crafts and games.  For animal enthusiasts, Own a Pony is a great chance to get up close and personal with the real-life Oscar and his companion Arthur. Under the watchful eye of the equestrian experts, kids can groom their ponies before a riding lesson – alternatively, they can learn to imitate their favourite animal during Animal Movement, a fun and unique class in the Maze.  Budding mini athletes can take advantage of sporting activities including Football Skills, Family Touch Rugby, Mini Athletics, Kids Zumba, Golf, String Putting or try out their skills in the hotel's new indoor tennis arena with the Tennis Pro Academy or Tennis Development classes. Alternatively, they can learn new and exciting skills like archery within the beautiful Scottish countryside.  With a playroom for the little ones to laugh and have fun, and The Zone for older children and teenagers, there's always something for the kids to enjoy indoors too. Activities such as canvas design, kids' bingo, ceramics, and t-shirt decorating are just some of the delights on offer. Don't forget the swimming pools, or  the 850 acres surrounding the hotel ripe for exploring before cuddling up for movie night.

Review by Lucy Gillmore

"This is the all-singing, all-dancing Scottish resort. There’s something here for everyone.  I’m a boutique hotel or rustic restaurant-with-rooms person – with no interest in golf. I don’t like big resorts - but I love Gleneagles. It caters not just for golfers and outdoor enthusiasts, but foodies, spa sybarites, dog-owners and families. And its green so there’s no need to feel guilty about checking in."
