Why we've chosen Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel

The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel is set in a charming location at the heart of Embleton, a small picturesque village on the coast within the AONB. But the best bit is, you’re just 10 minutes walk from two of the best sights on the Northumberland coast: the pristine sands of Embleton Bay and the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Embleton Bay is a gloriously long stretch of sand between Low Newton and the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, backed by dunes that are dotted with cowslips, burnet roses and bloody cranesbill. You have a choice of hotel rooms, many with views of the village or hotel gardens, or cottage suites, which are set apart from the main building in the gardens opposite. These are even more special – lovingly-converted and characterful barns with oak-beamed ceiling, wood-burning stoves and mezzanine sleeping lofts. Whatever you do don’t visit the area without popping in at the Ship Inn at Low Newton, a superb pub with with its own microbrewery that serves simples local food, such as Craster kippers with brown bread and butter, stotties and lobster delivered daily by the bucket.
