Why we've chosen Deneholme Country House Hotel and Activity Centre

You’ll find Deneholme on the edge of Allendale, only a small distance from the C2C cycle route. This Edwardian manor is not only a great accommodation, but also a great space for conferences, meetings, outdoor activities and many other events. There are 11 newly refurbished bedrooms in total, 5 ensuite and 6 that share comfortable bathrooms, plus a bar offering a range of local ales and fair trade wines. There's also 5 acres of garden and woodland to explore - there's even a footpath leading you all the way down to the bottom of the dene and eventually the River East Allen, as well as a circle of ancient beech trees. The garden provides ample space for team building and other activities, offering a fire pit and two large decking areas. There's even an archery field that doubles up as a camping field.

What makes it a green accommodation?

  • Central heating provided by a ground source (geothermal) heat pump

  • Hot water heated via solar panels

  • Wood-burning stoves with sustainably sourced timber

  • Rainwater is harvested and used to flush the toilets.

  • Waste is recycled or composted where possible

  • Building is insulated with sheep fleece from locally farmed sheep.
