Winter TreeHouse Holiday at Granö Beckasin

The Ume River - one of Northern Europe’s great waterways - divides in two at the small island of Granö. Hidden amongst the wildlife-dense forests of the island are six bird’s nest tree houses - all of them overlooking the river. Part homage to one man’s love of bird life and part desire to create a unique retreat in the canopy, Granö Beckasin is a luxury and small-scale experience. This winter holiday immerses guests into nature whilst giving them the chance to taste Lapland’s rich food source and to experience snow based adventures.

DAY 1:

Arrival at Umeå airport and transfer to Gränö Beckasin.

You’ll check-in at the lodge where you’ll meet your hosts and receive your warm outdoor clothing. You will stay for three nights in the lodge accommodation and the final night in the bird’s nest room. This can, however, be tailored if you wish to spend extra nights in the bird’s nest room.

Eco Lodge:
Reflecting its natural surroundings, the eco lodge’s rooms all come with recycled stylish Scandinavian furniture.
The rooms come with twin/double beds, a desk, kettle and some tea or coffee provisions as well as private bathroom.

Bird’s Nest:
Suspended in the trees, the bird’s nests offer a unique chance to recharge batteries. Fall asleep under the stars and wake up to a bird’s song with beautiful river views. The Bird’s Nest rooms come with a mix of furniture from a local designer as well as some up-cycled Scandinavian design gems. Each room comes with comfortable beds, table and chairs as well as private bathroom. Other amenities include kettle and a TV. Some Bird’s Nest rooms come with an extra bed. Guests staying in the Bird’s Nest have the option to have their breakfast delivered to the room.

Take in the wintry surroundings before dinner at the lodge’s restaurant, which offers panoramic views of the river and idyllic Swedish countryside. Enjoy home-cooked dishes sourced from local ingredients.

DAY 2:

After breakfast you’ll meet a pack of husky dogs ready to take you on a sled ride through the white wilderness landscape. You’ll have a chance to drive your own team of dogs (sharing with one other passenger).

After lunch you’ll have some free time to relax or perhaps try your skills at cross country skiing on a nearby frozen lake.

Dinner will be served at the lodge’s restaurant.

Overnight in a double/twin room at the lodge.

DAY 3:

After breakfast you’ll join a snowmobiling tour exploring the surrounding wilderness. During the excursion you’ll make a stop and learn about how local people catch fish during winter and you’ll have a chance to try ice fishing yourself. You’ll return to enjoy a hot warming lunch at the resort’s restaurant.

Evening at your leisure. Overnight at the eco-lodge.

DAY 4:

Enjoy breakfast at the resort’s restaurant and spend the day at your own pace or perhaps join a cross country skiing session or visit a local Sami family and enjoy an insight to the Northern indigenous culture in the past and present.

In the afternoon, you’ll check-in to your special Bird’s Nest treehouse which overlooks the forests and surrounding Ume river. Relax and enjoy the serene nature all around before dinner at the resort’s restaurant.

Overnight in the Bird’s Nest.
If you are very lucky you may witness the Northern Lights which sometimes appear in the more southerly parts of Swedish Lapland.

DAY 5:

Enjoy waking to gentle bird’s song before a hearty breakfast at the resort’s restaurant and transfer back to the airport or perhaps add extra days to your itinerary.
It is also possible to stay at Granö Beckasin during the summer months. Please get in touch with the team to find out more and to begin planning your adventure.
