Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, at around ten and a half miles long and over a mile wide. Of course this means there's a world of water activities at your feet, but the Lake also makes for equally impressive treks and walks. This 4-day walking holiday uses the lakeside towns of Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere as your two bases, from which you'll head out on daily walks along well maintained tracks and trails to explore the likes of Wansfell Pike and Loughrigg Tavern, as well as numerous relaxing lakeside walks. The last day involves a relatively tough trek up through forest paths to the peak of Gummer How, a fantastic vantage point to spot well-known landmarks in all directions.

This is a great introduction to walking in the Lake District, graded Medium, and is largely comprised of walks along well-maintained footpaths and bridleways, as well as a few roads. In terms of accommodation, you'll be offered a selection of hand-picked comfy accommodation, all of which provide a hearty breakfast for that much-needed energy boost.
