From the wonderful Apuane Alps to the ancient towns of Barga and Lucca, this fantastic walking holiday brings together all the best aspects of Tuscany, involving a free day to explore Florence.

A week of exploration in the Tuscan countryside, including picturesque Barga and Lucca, and the beauty of the Apuane Alps

Day 1
Arrival
Arrive at Lavacchio villa and farm, near the hamlet of Promiana.

Day 2
Grottorotondo, Apuane Alps
An introductory walk through woodland to the village of Brucciano, then onto Forcone ridge and up to Grottorotondo. Onwards to Sassi and then home.

Day 3
Pania di Corfino, Appenines
After transferring to Corfino, you'll follow a mule track to the south of the Pania. After a quick drink at the 'Fountain of Love', you'll take on the summit of the Pania de Corfino before heading back down to Rifugio Isera and Corfino.

Day 4
The Panias, Apuane Alps
Starting off in Piglionico, trek to the Refugio del Freo before crossing mountainside to Foce di Valli. 

Day 5
Free day for exploring Florence or relaxing by the pool!
Today you can opt to have a break from the exploration and simply have a relax at the hotel, or you can take the the streets of Florence to drink in the museums, art galleries and cafes, or head to nearby Lucca.

Day 6
Matanna, Apuane Alps
Back to the walking today as you start at Alt Matanna, cross a ridge and plunge into a valley as you circle around Mont Matanna. Then head onto the Rifugio Forte dei Marmi.

Day 7
Monte Giovo and the Apennine Ridge
Wander up the foothills of the Apennines to the village of Renaio, before reaching Vetricia and la Porticciola. On towards Lago Santo (via Hannibals Camp), and then onto the summit of Monte Giovo.

Departure
