The Mont Blanc massif stands at the heart of the European Alps, straddling the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland and providing some of the most stunning Alpine scenery in the world. The outstanding 12-day adventure will take you on a journey through many of the region's most rewarding tracks and trails, from an an ascent to the mighty pass known as the Fenetre d’Arpette, to a 'paved' Roman road believed to have been passed by Hannibal.

Not only will you get the hike through three separate countries and cross to the magnificent Brevent summit, you'll get to enjoy some wonderful hotel accommodation, making sure that you'll always be well-rested and ready for the adventures that lie ahead. This famed long distance walk is ideal for any experienced walker looking for the ultimate alpine challenge.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive in Les Houches

Day 2:
An introduction with a cable car to Bellevue, a descent to the Bionassay Glacier and an easy climb to to the Col de Tricot. You'll then reach the Chalet de Miage, stop for a drink, and head on to Les Contamines village.

Day 3:
Make your way to Notre Dame de la Gorge and then climb steeply to a Roman road believed to have been passed by Hannibal. Next comes the refuge at Le Balme where you'll prepare for your next adventure, an ascent of the Col de Bonhomme (2469m). Once done, you'll descend into Les Chapieux.

Day 4:
You'll walk to Le Mottet refuge and then climb the next high point, at the Col de la Seigne (2513m). Perched on the border between France and Italy, you'll be rewarded with some truly spectacular views as you rest for lunch. After lunch, you'll catch a bus down into Courmayeur.

Day 5:
Today begins with a climb towards the grassy Monte de la Saxe Ridge, which is a great spot for staring out at Mont Blanc. Continue on and, depending on the weather, either drop into La Vachey, or cross the Col Deux Sants to reach Arnuva.

Day 6:
Start with a walk to the Elena Refuge and a quick coffee before beginning the long ascent to the Col du Grand Ferret (2530m). Beyond this pass, you'll cross into Switzerland and cover differing terrain as you reach La Fouly.

Day 7:
Have a bit of a rest with a relatively easy day today, beginning with an exploration of some quintessential Swiss villages, including Cahmpex, the 'Chocolate Box Village'. Stay overnight at the Relais D’Arpette.

Day 8:
Make up for yesterday with one of the toughest days so far, with an ascent to the pass known as the Fenetre d’Arpette (2670m). Those who conquer the climb will be rewarded with awesome views.

Day 9:
Cross the Trient Valley and climb to the Col de Balme. Once completed, you'll cross back into France and lookout over the Chamonix Valley.

Day 10:
The path leads towards the Col des Montets and then veers off to the cliffs of Le Chesery, where you'll need the aid of Cables and ladders to cross an unusually difficult section. You'll have lunch in Lac Blanc, considered by many to be one of Chamonix's best viewpoints.

Day 11:
Catch a lift up to La Flegere and follow a stunning trail to the Col du Brevent and then the summit. Finally, descend back down into Les Houches for the end of the trip.
