Holidays in South Wales, Wales

Home to Wale’s capital city, the rolling hills of Monmouthshire and the sandy beaches of Pembrokeshire, South Wales has plenty to offer as a holiday destination. Cardiff has been hugely improved since the Cardiff Bay area was redeveloped about five years ago. The city has since had an influx of new cultural and culinary attractions, which are well worth sampling if you are in the region. Head to the open-air ‘living’ museum of the history of Wales, explore the grand grounds of Cardiff Castle or take a tour of the world famous stadium.

Beyond the city, South Wales is home to some beautiful countryside. The Monnow Valley is relatively unknown and offers some great walking opportunities over the rolling countryside between Monmouth and Hay-on-Wye. Margan Park is an excellent base for wildlife enthusiasts where 600 deer roam freely in beautifully kept parklands. Mynydd Lllangatwg and Llangynid Canal both offer good walking, with great views over the Black Mountains and Llangorse Lake.  Or if you’d prefer to spend your time by the sea, spend a few nights sleeping in your very own lighthouse in Usk!
