Holidays in Mid Wales, Wales

Whilst Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacons are known and loved by holiday goers, Mid Wales is often overlooked. Consequently this region of rugged, rural charm is void of crowds and retains some of the authenticity and ‘stillness’ that mass tourism can disturb.

The countryside between Herefordshire and the Welsh coast, just south of Snowdonia, is rich in history and geography. The Wye Valley is best explored on a cycling tour, when you can whizz along the pretty Wye River stopping off in Herefordshire’s famous black and white villages and market towns like Hay-on-Wye. To delve deeper into the Black Mountains it’s best to leave the bike behind and travel by foot to explore the Vale of Ewyas with its mysterious priory’s and waterfalls. Lon Cambria is a 113-mile route that meanders through the Cambrian Mountains from the sea to the English boarder, providing an excellent opportunity to cycle or walk the width of Wales. Or if you’d rather head North to South then try Offa’s Dyke, the ancient frontier between England and Wales.
