Famous for its star-crossed lovers, Verona is a city full of beautiful architecture, fantastic cafes and restaurants, and, of course, the magnifiecnt Roman amphitheatre that houses some of the best operatic performances in the world. This exhilarating 5 or 6 day rail holiday to Verona includes a return First Class rail ticket, plus three nights at the Hotel Accademia. You'll also get a night at the opera, and the chance to travel through the Gatthard and Simplon passes.

Brief itinerary

Day 1:
Make your way over to London St Pancras International Station and board your luxurious Eurostar to Paris, complete with complimentary meal and drinks. On arrival at Gare du Nord, you'll transfer across Paris to board a TGV train and continue through Switzerland to Zurich. Next, make the short walk to your overnight accommodation.

Day 2:
Spend the morning exploring Zurich before heading back to the station and boarding a Euro City service that'll take you along the beautiful Gotthard route as you continue into Italy.

Day 3:
Take a relaxed stroll once reaching Verona, the stunning walled city famed for its star-crossed lovers. Perhaps venture to Piazza Brà, which is surrounded by churches, monuments and fine palazzi, or visit the San Zeno Maggiore church. In the evening, make your way to the Roman amphitheatre for an opera performance

Day 4:
Today you'll get to explore the city even further, perhaps venturing out to the Valpolicella vineyards, the Palladian delights of Vicenza or even taking a trip on Lake Garda.

Day 5:
Say goodbye as you leave Verona and board a Eurostar Italia service to Milan. From Milan, board a Euro City service that'll snake through the Alps and the Simplon Pass to the town of Montreux. You'll stay here overnight.

Day 6:
Have a quick explore of Montreux in the morning before joining the Inter Regio train to Lausanne, where you change trains and board the TGV to whisk you back to Paris. A quick change of stations in Paris and you're on the Eurostar heading for London.
