Days 1-2 - London to Montecatini Our Italian holiday begins at St Pancras International, as we join the Eurostar to Paris. Here we catch a TGV and travel through the pretty French countryside to Italy. We stay at Turin's Dock Milano Hotel tonight. On Day 2 we continue along the beautiful Italian coastline to Montecatini, one of Europe's premier spa resorts. We spend four nights at the 4* Hotel Francia e Quirinale.
Day 3 - Florence Today we head to Florence and enjoy a guided walking tour of the beautiful city's main sights. We visit the vast Duomo with its distinctive orange-tiled dome, a landmark of the city, and the unique Ponte Vecchio, or Old Bridge, constructed in 1345. You are then free to explore the gorgeous Tuscan capital at your own pace.
Day 4 - At leisure You have the chance to discover the delightful town of Montecatini today. Perhaps take the funicular railway to Montecatini Alto, the quaint old town which offers amazing views over the surrounding countryside. Otherwise, the 18th century Tettuccio Terme spa is well worth a visit.
Day 5 - Pisa & Lucca We set out by rail to Pisa, where we take a guided tour of the splendid Old Town and the Field of Miracles. Here we see the ornate Duomo and Baptistry, along with the world-famous Leaning Tower. Later we travel to Lucca - Tuscany's hidden gem. The walled city encloses fabulous Medieval and Renaissance architecture, and we enjoy free time here to explore.
Day 6 - To Venice Today we travel to Venice, the glorious floating city of shimmering waterways, elaborate bridges and ornate palaces. After checking in to our hotel in Mestre*, the rest of your day is at leisure. Venice lends itself to idle wandering, so traverse the myriad of winding alleys and hidden piazzas - there is a delight around every corner.
Days 7-8 - At leisure in Venice We enjoy a walking tour of Venice this morning, during which we see the magnificent St Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace, and learn this city's rich history. This afternoon and Day 8 are free; with so much to see in this unique city you are spoilt for choice. Visit the lace-making island of Burano, admire the art collection at the Gallerie dell'Accademia or simply take an enchanting gondola ride on the canals.
Days 9-10 We leave Venice by rail for Mulhouse in France, travelling via Milan. We stay overnight at the Mercure Mulhouse Centre Hotel. On Day 10 we continue to Paris, where we join our Eurostar to St Pancras International.
