Option 1: via Paris and Rome (sleeper)

Sample itinerary: Take the 1404 service from London St Pancras to Paris, cross the city to Gare de Bercy and take the 1852 sleeper train, which arrives in Rome at 1012 the next day. The 1128 from Rome arrives in Catania at 2116, and Siracusa at 2230.

Leg 1: London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord in the heart of Paris. Don't forget check-in time for Eurostar is at least 30 mins before departure.

It's a ten minute walk between Gare de Lyon and Gare de BercyIt's a ten minute walk between Gare de Lyon and Gare de Bercy
Gare du Nord to Gare de Bercy. From the Eurostar platform, turn left, walk down the stairs and follow the signs for RER ligne D to Gare de Lyon (which will be signposted 'direction' 'Melun', 'Malesherbes' or 'Corbeil Essonnes'). It's just 2 stops from Gare de Nord to Gare de Lyon (and takes a little over 10 minutes) then either walk the 600m to Gare de Bercy or take the metro line 14 (which will be signposted 'direction Olympiades') one stop to Bercy metro station, from where it's just a short stroll over to the mainline Gare de Bercy.

Leg 2: Paris Gare de Bercy to Rome Termini

Overnight sleeper train departs Paris Gare de Bercy daily at 1852, arriving in Rome Termini Station the next day at 1012.

Leg 3: Rome to Catania and Syracuse (Siracusa)

The train to Siracusa departs Roma Termini at 1128, arriving in Sicily in the evening (Messina at 1928, Catania at 2116, and Siracusa at 2230).

The train is loaded onto the ferry for the 30 minute crossing to Sicily, and you can stay in the carriage or enjoy the view from the deck. There are also two overnight trains, leaving Rome at 2030 and 2120.
