Route: London to Malaga via Paris and Barcelona
Journey time: from around 21 hours
Journey highlights:

The trip requires an overnight stay in Barcelona (we recommend Barcelona, though you could break the journey earlier in Paris and take the train all the way to Malaga the following day)... after the Eurostar to Paris, you then cross the city to Gare de Lyon and then whizz down through France to Barcelona to stay overnight (a little tapas perhaps?) then catch the morning train to Malaga.

Detailed itinerary

Option 1: via Paris and Barcelona

Sample itinerary: Take the morning Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord then cross Paris to Gare de Lyon to catch the train down to Barcelona. Spend the night in Barcelona then catch the 08.30 high-speed AVE train from Barcelona Sant, which arrives in to Malaga at 14:24.
Price: From £295 return
Leg 1:

London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord in the heart of Paris. Don't forget check-in time for Eurostar is at least 30 mins before departure.

First train departs 0540 (Mon-Fri), 0618 (Sat), 0819 (Sun).

Last train departs 2001 (Mon-Sat), 2031 (Sun).

Frequency of service: 18 trains Mon-Thur, 20 trains Friday, 22 on Saturday, 17 on Sunday.

Journey time: From 2 hrs 16 mins

A relatively quick train trip from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon. From the Eurostar platform, turn left, walk down the stairs and follow the signs for RER ligne D (which will be signposted 'direction' 'Melun', 'Malesherbes' or 'Corbeil Essonnes'). It's just 2 stops from Gare de Nord to Gare de Lyon and takes a little over 10 minutes (plus there's a short 5 minute walk to the connecting TGV departure platforms), but we recommend you leave at least 50 minutes for the entire transfer.
