Option 1: via Paris

Sample itinerary: Take the 0700 Eurostar from London St Pancras International arriving in Paris Gare du Nord at 1026. Transfer to Paris Montparnasse and connect to the 1212 TGV arriving in La Rochelle at 1525.
Price: London to Paris by Eurostar from £29 one way. Paris to La Rochelle from £36 one way.
Leg 1:

London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord in the heart of Paris. Don't forget check-in time for Eurostar is at least 30 mins before departure.

First train departs 0540 (Mon-Fri), 0618 (Sat), 0819 (Sun).

Last train departs 2001 (Mon-Sat), 2031 (Sun).

Frequency of service: 18 trains Mon-Thur, 20 trains Friday, 22 on Saturday, 17 on Sunday.


Journey time: From 2 hrs 16 mins

Cross the centre of Paris by metro from Gare du Nord to Gare Montparnasse. From the Eurostar platform, turn left, walk down the stairs and follow the signs for Metro line M4 to Montparnasse Bienvenue (which is signposted 'direction Porte d'Orléans'). It's 14 stops from Gare de Nord to Montparnasse and takes 25-35 minutes, but we recommend you leave at least 50 minutes for the entire transfer time.

Leg 2:

Paris Gare Montparnasse to La Rochelle

TGV-Atlantique first departure at 0610 and last departure at 2027 (direct journey options or with transfer at Poitiers).

The "white city" is known for its commitment to sustainability and adapting to innovative technologies such as its local electric bus system provided by Yélo buses (French only). With 64 bus lines, the city is equipped with a fabulous bus service running until 7-8 in the evening. Single journey tickets cost 1.30€ and 10 journey tickets cost 11€.

This company also provides an excellent bike-sharing scheme offering 300 bikes distributed in 49 stations around the city which can be used through its safe 230 km long cycle lane network. Rental cost 1.30€/hour and requires a credit card deposit of 250€.
