Option 1: via Paris

Sample itinerary: A very early rise to catch the 0525 Eurostar to Paris allows you to connect to the 1019 (with a bite of breakfast on the way) from Gare d'Austerlitz, which will have you in Carcassonne with plenty of time to check in before your evening meal.

Leg 1: London St Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord in the heart of Paris. Don't forget check-in time for Eurostar is at least 30 mins before departure.

Transfer

Cross the centre of Paris by metro from Gare du Nord to Gare d'Austeritz. From the Eurostar platform, turn left, walk down the stairs and follow the signs for Metro line M5 to Gare d'Austerlitz (which is signposted 'direction Place d'Italie'). It's 9 stops from Gare de Nord to Gare d'Austerlitz and takes 20-30 minutes, but we recommend you leave at least 50 minutes for the entire transfer.

Leg 2: Paris Austerlitz to Carcassonne

Train departs daily at 1019, arriving in Carcassonne at 1737. There is also a sleeper service at 2156, arriving in Carcassonne at 0538.

Option 2: via Paris and Toulouse

Sample itinerary: Take the 0932 from St Pancras to Paris, where you can grab lunch on the run on your way to Gare de Montparnasse for the 1410 to Toulouse. Upon arrival in Toulouse, transfer to the 1959 service to Carcassone, where you will arrive at 2112.
There are also further routes to Carcassonne via Lille and other French cities.

First train departs weekdays at 0617 and week-round at 0654. Subsequent trains run at 0701, 1040, 1044, 1142, 1221 (weekdays only), 1450, 1545 (Sunday - Friday), 1609, 1648, 1747, 1837, 1851 and 1959. There is an additional 1951 service Fridays and Sundays.
