Overview of North Clare Food Trail Holiday

A 5 day interactive “Eco Experience” of nature based and creative activities offered by a key member of the Burren Ecotourism Network. This package includes Sustainable building techniques, Wild Life Surveying, Organic Gardening, Ceramics, Flax Weaving, Natural Sculpture making, a Guided Burren Walk or Guided Bird Watching Tour, Vegetarian Cooking and optional Holistic Therapies and evening Traditional Irish Music and Dancing sessions in the local pubs.

The programme has been designed to create an awareness of environmental interaction and how to get closer to nature and it includes components of nature interpretation and education as well as being fun and creative. All activities use resources found on the Boghill estate – clay, flax and willow as well as the rich biodiversity of animals and plants.

The action packed agenda typically starts with yoga stretches in preparation for the experiences in store, followed by a variety of nature interactive morning workshops. After a delicious two course vegetarian lunch participants are encouraged to take a guided tour around Boghill or the Burren or go on an organised trip to local attractions. Included in the week is a guided Burren walk or a Nature Watching tour at the Cliffs of Moher. Late afternoon there are a series of informal options including Ceramics Studio Work, Cob building or Natural Weaving Workshops. Another gourmet vegetarian meal is followed by a mini-bus trip to a variety of evening entertainment in the local pubs – music sessions, set dancing or local bands.

We offer an Eco Holiday with a difference – in the words of a previous visitor “a series of very enjoyable experiences in a beautiful secluded natural haven”
The Eco Experience weeks will run at the same time as the Ceramics Workshops and the Traditional Irish Music Workshops. Guests can choose a full selection of nature based eco experiences or home in on a personal focus from the full programme of activities taking place such as Traditional Irish Music and Ceramics and combine this with a variety of nature based activities and tours – have a look at the programmes on offer.

At Boghill we seek to foster a community ethos and all guests are encouraged to make themselves at home – even help with the washing up if they like! The meals are vegetarian – for those meat eaters amongst you – you won’t even notice the absence of meat.

The Boghill kitchen is renowned for its delicious nurturing vegetarian food sourced primarily from the adjoining organic garden and orchard. Our gourmet menu will nourish your soul as well as your body and we are happy to cater for special diets. The Burren with its unusual geological features, its well preserved archaeology, its unique flora and fauna and its local culture, it is an ideal area to explore intimately in a small tour group - the week includes a guided walk in the Burren Nationa Park.

The Boghill Centre is a key member of the Burren Ecotourism Network and we aim to encourage visitors to the area and preserve the Burren as an unspoilt nature reserve. At Boghill we offer a holiday with a difference – a refreshing change from a Hotel based trip. We replace the impersonal grandeur with a friendly home-from-home, the mass catering with the nutritious, home cooked organic food and we offer one-to-one attention and a community spirit.

Stay in one of our single or twin ensuite rooms or share a family room in our hostel. You will have full access to the Boghill estate and can enjoy our Interaction with Nature Tour. As well as the tour programme there will be the opportunity to indulge yourself in a choice of individual therapies at affordable guest rates. Our therapy range includes Aromatherapy massage, Indian Head massage, Reflexology, Reiki and Spiritual healing.

“Boghill is a magical place where you can lose yourself in wild nature and reconnect with your soul. I have been coming here for 7 years and each visit is different. The people are friendly, the food is divine and I love the endless opportunities to discover something new about yourself.” Karen Revel
