Details of Speyside Whisky Trail 3 Day Tour

Day 1: We leave Edinburgh at 9am head off on our whisky adventure with the scenic journey north into the Highlands. Our first stop will be the historic village of Dunkeld, before enjoying lunch in Pitlochry and then visiting our first distillery of the trip, Dalwhinnie. We continue north into the Highlands, along the river through the rugged Cairngorm National Park to the small town of Grantown on Spey, which will be our base for the next two nights.

Day 2: Today is spent discovering and exploring the most famous whisky region in Scotland. We start with a scenic drive toward the coast, with our first stop at Benromach Distillery, where we enjoy a personalised tour. It's not far further to lovely Elgin – home to Gordon and Macphail, where we take lunch. Next, we head back up the Spey to Aberlour for a visit to the distillery there and, if we have the time, we'll also stop at the Speyside Cooperage in nearby Craigellachie. Then we travel back to Grantown on Spey for the night.

Day 3: Your final day takes us through more of the beautiful Cairngorm Mountain scenery on the return journey to Edinburgh. In the morning we explore Glenlivet, before passing the famous royal residence of Balmoral Castle and stopping in the village of Braemar. As we head back south, the road passes over Scotland’s highest mountain pass then through the gentler landscapes of Perthshire before arriving back in Edinburgh at around 6:30pm. Please note – the itinerary and distillery visits are subject to variation throughout the season and may not be the same described above, however there will always be a minimum of 4 distillery visits during the tour.
