Holidays in Catalonia, Spain
Proud and playful Catalonia, Cataluña to the locals, hosts some of Europe's best scenery, and some of its best parties. From the Costa Brava to the Costa Dorada, the coast of Catalonia is not only a vast stretch of sandy beaches ideal of dipping into the water, its seaside villages are a hotbed of good food and vibrant culture.
Barcelona is the most famous holiday destination in the region and is a great city to explore in an eco-friendly way. The city is home to over 150km of cycle lanes, which weave through some of the city’s finest sites including Gaudi’s buildings, the Olympic Port, Park Ciutadela and Port Vell. Medieval history of traders and explorers brushes up against 19th Century surrealism and cobbled streets filled with tapas bars. Further afield the themes remain the same but life becomes slower and quieter. Sleepy fishing villages come alive at night to lay claim to the best seafood in the region and the quiet countryside is littered with archeological sites and dramatic castles.
