Day 1

We leave St Pancras International by Eurostar for Paris, where we go by coach to St Mammes. In this small town, we get on board the Anacoluthe, our hotel-barge. We cruise to Melun where we will spend the night.

Day 2

This morning we visit the Château Vaux le Vicomte, the model for the Palace of Versailles. We return to the ship in time for lunch, and  we will cruise to Paris, where we enjoy the experience of watching the city illuminated, after dinner.

Day 3

Today's schedule will take us to Sèvres porcelain factory, where we will learn more about the production techniques and workshops. After that, we return to Anacoluthe and cruise to Chatou, on the "Ile des Impressionistes". We will spend the night in Chatou.

Day 4

Our first stop this morning is Conflans St Honorine, considered the capital of France's inland waterways, where we visit the Inland Navigation. We sail during the afternoon until we get to Poissy, where we will spend the night.

Day 5

This morning we arrive to Mantes with its market day, where there are stands with locally produced food and crafts. After having lunch on board, we enjoy a walking tour to the church of Notre Dame . We spend the night in Mantes.

Day 6

We star early this morning our way to Vernon, the gateway to Normandy, where we enjoy an excursion to Giverny, home of Claude Monet.  Back on board we will be invited to a cider tasting as we go to Les Andelys. There will be a farewell gala dinner tonight on board, as part of the end of the trip.

Day 7

After breakfast we leave Anacoluthe in Les Andelys and get a coach to central Paris. At Gare du Nord we board the Eurostar service back to London.

Customer Comments

"This is the first holiday that we have had with Great Rail Journeys. We have been very impressed, and in fact my wife and I both felt that it is the best holiday we have had. We take three to four short breaks away each year but this we could not fault. xcellent food, good organisation, first class Tour Manager and real value for money. The French tour guide, Alex (female) was very knowledgeable on all the areas we visited, a lovely lady. We have now booked another trip with Great Rail Journeys in December 2011 "Cologne's Wonderful Markets". Can we have Alan as our Tour Manager again please!" Mr and Mrs Childs

"I have just returned from the most fabulous holiday on the Anacoluthe 'Romance of the Seine Cruise'. It far exceeded expectations - the staff Daniel, Suzanne, Celine, Francesca were wonderful, and very resourceful during the lock keepers strike! The food was incredible. I can honestly say I have never had a better holiday." Mrs Shone
