The rocks here are said to be more than 3,000 million years old: who knows what the Smoo Cave, unique in its formation in the UK with the inner chamber formed by rainwater while the outer was moulded by the sea, would have to tell us? Or what tales the Moine Thurst Belt, with its 190 km belt, would tell. The rocks in the Geopark might even still have an American accent: they were originally attached to the Americas, having made the slow migration to our small island some 60 million years ago.
