Details of Salcombe Sailing Days

Thought about trying sailing but don’t want to go on a ‘course’ crammed in with people you don’t know? Then come sailing with us aboard Tinushi, a 32 foot sailing yacht based at Salcombe in South Devon. Tinushi is yours. You choose who you want to share her with.

Experience the amazing pollution free, carbon neutral world of sailing. In today’s world of rising emissions sailing is the ultimate guilt free holiday; moving through the ocean powered only by the wind.

Sit back and enjoy the peace and serenity of sailing, the wonderful feeling of being completely at one with nature. The wind dictates our direction and speed. So slow down, switch off the phone, listen to the seabirds, look out for dolphins and feel the wind in your hair. This is THE holiday experience for the 21st century, just you, the wind and the sea.

You can sail for half a day, a whole day, or for longer if you wish. Sleep and eat on board the yacht or stay ashore and be picked up every morning. We’ll sort out dates and times to suit you.

Jon Clift, the skipper and cook, will look after both you and the boat. Relax and enjoy the experience; learn to sail and navigate only if you want to. Jon has been a yacht skipper and RYA Yachtmaster for over 30 years. He has sailed the Atlantic Ocean three times as well as being an RNLI lifeboat crewmember and helmsman. You’ll be in good hands.

In keeping with Tinushi’s remit of touching the earth lightly this is a vegetarian boat, using as much locally produced food as possible.

Why choose us?

* Weekends or weekdays, half a day, one day or longer, sleep aboard or stay ashore – it’s up to you.

* We’ll fit in with whatever you require with dates and times to suit you. We can start and finish the day from the same harbour or cruise along the coast – it’s your choice.

Our yacht is a Contessa 32 called Tinushi. She is a famous design; easy and comfortable to sail, with a pleasant well mannered motion through the water,

Tinushi has one mast, with at least two sails flying from it, a kitchen, a lavatory, six beds and one small engine just in case the wind doesn’t blow. To this add pollution free wind power, stunning coastal scenery, and all the necessary safety gear as required by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Built in 1981 and extensively refurbished Tinushi is now ready to carry you in style. She was designed and built to sail; she is not a ‘floating caravan’. You won’t find a bath, a plasma screen or air conditioning; but you will experience a delightful, easily handled yacht that will put smile on your face.

We’ll provide the boat, food and drinks and the experience of a lifetime. Try it, why wait?

As Mark Twain said - "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do........... Sail away from the safe harbour...... Explore. Dream. Discover."
