Details of Sailing and Walking on St Kilda

This is a spectacular and unforgettable sailing journey where we spend five or six days exploring the magical islands off the West Coast of Scotland. Breathtaking landscapes and wildlife combine with fascinating history and culture to make this holiday a true adventure in every sense.

Our ultimate objective is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Kilda set out in the Atlantic Ocean on the very edge of Europe. Until the arrival of the Victorians, the community of St Kilda had lived in isolation for more than a thousand years. The remarkable archipelago of St Kilda and the Hebridean Islands have an unparalleled birdlife and some of the most incredible scenery in the world. Join us for this remarkable once-in-a-lifetime experience.

ITINERARY (in brief)

Departures in 2012 are either 5 or 6 days in duration. A 6 day itinerary allows more time to explore the many other islands. In favourable conditions, the planned itinerary of a 5 day trip would be as follows:

Day 1 - Join the yacht Elinca and sail south to Leverburgh

Day 2 - Sail to Hirta on St Kilda

Day 3 - A full day exploring St Kilda

Day 4 - The St Kilda Stacs and Taransay

Day 5 - Return sail to Stornoway

Please note: the exact itinerary for this trip needs to be flexible in light of the wind and weather conditions. The skipper has the final say on all route choices. Wherever you sail and walk, we are sure you will enjoy an unforgettable holiday.
