Providing some of the wildest and most impressive scenery Europe has to offer, the region is home to the famous 'Haute Route Pyrenees', a trek that explores the most challenging sections the region has to offer. The route will take you far off the beaten track, starting with a three day trek around the glacial lakes Aigues Tortes National Park. From here, things get tougher as you head over the little-used Mulleres pass to the base camp at the foot of Pico Aneto. The climb will be strenuous but non-technical and will require the use of crampons and an ice-axe. Along the route, you'll bed down in a selection of chalets and secluded high mountain refuges.
