Overview of Provence Cycling Weekend

Province has long since been considered on of France's most picturesque regions, and quite rightly so. Stretching from the Rhone to the infamous Alps, this is a region of contrasts, of imposing mountain ranges and expansive fields of lavender. This fantastic 6-day self-guided cycle of the region is ideal for anyone looking for a slower paced cycling holiday where you can travel at your own pace, stopping wherever you like for a quick bite to eat or simply to sit and admire the views.

During the trip you'll head north towards the beautiful Mont Ventoux, travelling around the Luberon mountain range. You'll also pass through countless market towns and quiet villages such as Roussillon, Gordes and Apt. It may be short, but the trip is also relatively challenging so you'll have to make sure that you have a good level of fitness before heading out.

Here's a brief overview of the itinerary:

  • Day 1: Arrive in Cavaillon
  • Day 2: Follow the River Durance through Merindol and Lauris, before continuing to Cadenet
  • Day 3: Cycle through beautiful Lourmarin before heading into the Luberon mountain range and Bonnieux
  • Day 4: Free day to enjoy at your leisure!
  • Day 5: Ride through Gordes and a number of other villages on your way back to Cavaillon
  • Day 6: Finish in Cavaillon
