Overview of Prague to Budapest Ride

Discover the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary from the comfort of a saddle. This trip is a great way to discover new places and enjoy the culture and landscape of Central Europe, combining relaxing country lanes and cycle paths with sections alongside the mighty Danube. Enjoy the castles, rustic villages, paths next to rivers and lakes and immerse in the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s history.

On the way you will see places such as the wine-making region of Moravia, as well as UNESCO sites and gorgeous national park, and you will have the opportunity to discover four historic European capitals. You won’t have to worry about luggage, as it will be transported for us between each accommodation, so you only have to care about enjoying the journey.  This trip is perfect for bike lovers and for those who want to learn a bit about local culture combined with a slice of adventure.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Prague tour where we'll visit places such as Wenceslas Square and the Old Town.
  • Day 2: We'll collect our bikes in Budejovice to start our route to Cesky Krumlov.
  • Day 3: Today's destination will be Trebon.
  • Day 4: We'll head to Telc in South Moravia, a wine-making area, and on the way we'll see places such as the Czech Canada National Park and Perslak.
  • Day 5: Today we'll discover the flatland of the region and its gorgeous landscape while we head towards Mikulov on the Austrian border. 
  • Day 6: Once in Austria, we'll enjoy the amazing views of the small villages and vineyards as we make our way to Vienna.
  • Day 7: We'll get into the Donauauen Natinal Park after joining the Danube Cycle Path and we'll cross the border to Slovakia. On the way we'll see places such as the Castle Orth and the chateau of Eckartsau.
  • Day 8: We continue our route next to the Danube from Bratislava to cross another border, this time to Hungary cycling to Halaszi.
  • Day 9: We'll transfer to Esztergom.
  • Day 10: We'll cycle alongside the Danube to get to Budapest through hills and forests. There's also the option to get there by ferry.
  • Day 11: End Budapest.
