Have you ever wondered just how wild and wonderful England's inner landscapes can get? This is one of the longer trips featured on greentraveller and is perhaps one of the best trails that England has to offer. Prepare yourself for a fantastic, soul-cleansing 20 day walk through the wild open countryside as you follow the stunning Pennine Way National Trail from Edale to Kirk Yetholm. Over nearly three weeks you'll cover some 256 miles, crossing from the Peak District, through the picturesque Yorkshire Dales and Three Peaks, towards the North Pennines and Hadrian's Wall. You'll get to combine easy walks in the likes of Swaledale with challenging climbs, such as the ascent of Great Shunner Fell.
The trip is graded Moderate to Strenuous, and completing the whole trail in 20 days can prove quite a challenge. If you don't quite feel up to trekking the whole path, there are also itineraries that only do certain sections, meaning you can experience the wonderful landscapes for a shorter period, zeroing in on a particular area that you'd love to see. You needn't worry about your accommodation, either, as each B&B and guesthouse has been hand-picked to provide you with all the comfort and warmth you deserve after a whole day trekking through the countryside.
