Overview of Hebrides Hiking Short Break
Isle of Lewis
After departing from Inverness, we travel to Ullapool for the evening ferry to Stornoway via a short walk around the Corrieshalloch Gorge, which boasts a 40 metre waterfall. We may see porpoises, dolphins or even whales which swim through The Minch during the ferry journey to the Isle of Lewis. The following day involves a trip to Great Bernera, an island attached to Lewis by a bridge, where we enjoy a circular walk around the island with its white sand beaches, Bosta Iron Age village and tremendous views of the Lewis coastline. On our return journey to Stornoway we visit Callanish Standing Stones and meet Callum and Angus for a weaving demonstration on the old loom - and the chance to try the weaving for yourself.
Isle of Harris
The following day starts with a drive south to Harris where we hike either to the top of Clisham, the highest peak in the Western Isles, or follow the old green road from Rhenigidale to the deserted village of Molinginish. After a short walk to Rogie Falls on the mainland, the journey finishes in Inverness where you can be dropped off at the train station or at the airport.
