Walking Holiday along Offa's Dyke Path, Wales

Stretching all the way from Chepstow in South Wales to Prestatyn on the North Wales coast, this 177 mile walk will allow you to discover the beauty and history of Wales in a way like no other.

Offa’s Dyke trail is a truly unique walking experience, allowing you to cover the length of Wales on one uninterrupted trail through the borderlands of England and Wales. Following the ancient dyke built by King Offa in the 8th century to ward off Celtic tribes, this walk will not only take you through some of the most varied landscape that Wales has to offer, but will also allow you to explore nearly two thousand years of history in the process.

Starting in the old fortress town of Chepstow in South Wales, the trail follows the dyke for 177 miles through stunning countryside including the Wye Valley, the Black mountains, the Welsh marches, the Berwyn Mountains and the broad grassy Clwydian Hills, until you reach Prestatyn on the north wales coast.

As you journey through these historically rich lands, you will also have the chance to explore key historical sites including the Norman fortresses of Chepstow, Chirk and White castles, breathtaking Tintern Abbey, Thomas Telford’s famous Pontycysyllte aqueduct and of course the lands of the old dyke itself.

Finally, when you’re ready for a day off you’ll have the choice of some of Wales’ best market towns to discover including Henry V’s birth-town of Monmouth, the book town of Hay-on-Wye and Llangollen with its beautiful canal. Being based on the path, we know the trail intimately and use the very best accommodation, of it’s type, available in each of the area you will through.
