onebag.com has been rated the best eco travel blog by US-based Tripbase.

According to the organisers, "The award is given to the most celebrated advocates of the green cause in this sector. We want to applaud the hard work that goes into great layout and content, user accessibility, inspiring writing and admirable ethics. Travel for the environmentally minded is a growing area of the industry and one in which a lot of groundbreaking work is being done. "Our panel of experts have trawled the blogosphere to identify the leaders in the field of eco travel.

From an initial long list, each candidate was discussed and compared with other similar blogs as well as against the criteria listed above. We then unanimously decided on the winners of the award, giving the accolade to those who stand head and shoulders above the crowd and are more than worthy of praise and recognition."

Greentraveller.co.uk is the highest rated British eco travel blog on Tripbase's list. Congratulations to our friends at other leading British eco travel blogs - ecoescape.blogspot.com and ecotravel.org.uk - who also made it into the top ten.

The full list of the top eco travel blogs in the world is as follows:

Commenting on the eco travel blog awards, Tripbase says on its website: "People today are generally more aware of their impact on the environment. We are made especially aware of the negative impact of burning fossil fuels on the world's resources and the atmosphere.

Travelling by plane, car, boat or train is obviously contributory to this and eco blogs can inform us of the best means of transport and methods for offsetting any negative effects. A great eco blog will also consider the impact of travel and tourism on local communities and economies as well as making its readers aware of green accommodation and equipment for sustainable global travel."
