New TV series focuses on Green Travel

Posted by Richard Hammond at 05:47 on Thursday 06 September 2007

A new six-part TV series is to showcase green travel. The Travel Channel's How to Holiday Greener is a guide to eco-friendly travel in the UK. The six episodes cover green travel in Devon & Cornwall, London, The New Forest, Norfolk, Pembrokeshire and the Scottish highlands and islands.

The series features green places to stay, attractions and activities, as well as tips and advice for how travellers can have a greener holiday, including what transport to use, and choosing food and drink. The series is intended as a gentle introduction to green travel, but it does tackle some of the serious environmental issues regarding climate change, revealing some facts behind tourism's contribution to CO2 emissions and the steps being taken to reduce holiday footprints. There are also interviews with environmental experts and green travel organisations.

'How to Holiday Greener' is presented by Miranda Krestovnikoff (above), previously presenter of the BBC's Coast programme and Country Lives. GreenTraveller's Richard Hammond helped out on the series as Contributing Editor. How to Holiday Green premieres Sunday 9 September on Sky Digital EPG 261.

This looks great!

Good to hear about this series! I hope it crosses the pond and we can see it in the Americas.
