Details of Mountain Retreat in County Mayo

Mayo is one of the Emerald Isle's most sparsely populated, wild counties, with a dramatic, rocky shoreline along the Atlantic coast and a unique, ethereal interior of low lying bogs and rugged mountains. An ideal group getaway, we can take up to 12 people and we will tailor the experience to suit both your budget and choices of activities. You'll be housed in a stunning wooden lodge one in the awe-inspiring scenery of Ireland's Partry Mountains, with a huge range of activities available right on your doorstep, from sailing to walking, kayaking and wind-surfing in the beautiful Clew Bay, nearby.

Your holiday will be tailor made to suit your group. Here we provide and example itinerary to give you some ideas.

Day One
Arrive in Mayo and settle in to your accommodation.

Day Two
Have a day free for exploration of the area.

Day Three
Take a guided walk up Croagh Patrick – Ireland’s ‘holy mountain’ (772m). If the weather is good, the bracing climb to the summit, will be followed by the chance to take in panoramic views of the stunning Mayo landscape that surrounds the mountain.

Day Four
Journey to Clew Bay where you can kayak or windsurf to the many small islands, which are home to a rich variety of wildlife, including playful seals.

You'll have the afternoon free to explore the charming town of Westport at your own pace.

Day Five
Free day

Day Six
Today you'll be ferried out by a local boatsman, Anthony, to the remote and uninhabited Inishkea Islands, where you'll enjoy a guided walk and learn about the tragic events of 1927 that led to the end of human settlement on this Atlantic island. You may even spot a seal or two while you’re there. You'll then experience an evening of local folk lore and more stories in the company of local storytellers from the Mullet.
