Details of the Marrakech Express train holiday

Take one of the world's most amazing rail journeys - to Morocco via Madrid, Cordoba and across the straits of Gibraltar to Africa. Experience the colours of Morocco's wonderful cities: Tangiers, Fez, Rabat and Marrakech. Explore their souks, sample tasty tagines, and wander through the tiny streets and tiled courtyards of their medinas: an unforgettable experience.

Holidays can be tailor-made for you to include different hotels, lengths of stay, departure dates and additional cities.

Days 1-3 - London to Cordoba
Travel by Eurostar from London to Paris, then take the sleeper from Paris to Madrid, where you transfer on to Cordoba. In Cordoba you'll stay in the Hospes Palacio del Bailío. Cordoba, with its rich Moorish heritage, is home to the Alcazar de los Reyos Cristianos, pretty, secluded patios, and a breathtaking Mosque-Cathedral and is a fascinating city that you can take an extra day to explore.

Day 3 - Cordoba to Tangiers
Head to Algeciras and take the high-speed ferry to Tangiers, where you'll have a private transfer to the El Minzah Hotel, close to the old town. Explore the many sights of Tangiers, from the Foundouk Market near your hotel to Zoco Grande (the main square), as well as the ancient, atmospheric Medina and many cafés serving up traditional mint tea.

Day 4 - Tangiers to Fez
Spend the morning getting to know Tangiers a little further before we head in first class to Fez, where we'll stay at the Riad Fes.
Mediaeval capital of Morocco, Fez remains one of the world's best preserved and most atmospheric Arab cities, with its ancient, winding car-free medina.

Day 5 - Fez
A full day to discover the wonders of Fez, its fine Islamic architecture and delicious local food - you can hire a licensed tour guide to show you around without getting lost.

Day 6 - Fez to Marrakech
Today you'll reach the legendary city of Marrakech by way of first-class, air conditioned train. On arrival, you'll check-in for 3 nights at the Maison Arabe Hotel

Days 7-8 - Marrakech
You have two days to experience Marrakech and explore the surrounding area. From the famous Djemma el Fna, the central square which is the beating heart of Marrakech, with its bustle of shops and cafés, snake charmers and music to the other delights of the Medina, the Palais Dar Si Said Art Museum, El Bahia Palace and nearby attractions - such as Oukaimden, an Atlas Mountain ski resort.

Day 9 - Marrakech to Rabat
Today we head to Rabat, Morocco's undiscovered capital, a green oasis by the beautiful Atlantic coast, with fine unspoilt beaches, plus architecture, mausoleums and monuments dating from across the last two millennia.

Day 10 - Rabat to Tangiers
Today we head back to Tangiers, where you can laze on the beach if the sun is out, or explore the Sultan's Palace and Museum of Moroccan Art.

Day 11 - Tangiers to Ronda
Today we head back across the Straits of Gibraltar to Algeciras and on to the beautiful White City of Ronda, perched above a gorge in the mountains of Andalucia, boasting historic Arab baths and a celebrated Bull Ring (Plaza de Toros).

Day 12 - Ronda to Paris
Take the train to Madrid, where you can relax in a café or tapas bar or take in one of the city's world class galleries before you board the sleeper service to Paris, where you'll awake the next day.

Day 13 - Paris to London
Head back to the UK via the Eurostar from Paris.
