Overview of Magic of Moravia Cycling Tour

This 8-night twin-country cycling holiday leads you on a fascinating journey through the rich and complex landscapes of the Austro-Czech borders that were, for 40 years until 1989, completely cut off and separated by the Iron Curtain.

Your route begins in the former Liechtenstein estate, and UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site, of the Lednice-Valtice Area in southern Moravia. The cycling is gentle and unhurried with lots of time to stop off at the impressive chateaux, tiny chapels, hunting lodges and romantic follies. You’ll spend time too in the magical wine town of Mikulov, that once had a thriving Jewish quarter with historic synagogue and atmospheric cemetery – still well worth a visit today.

The second part of your holiday is in the Austrian “Wienviertel” region where you’ll discover more wine villages than you ever thought existed – in some cases, their cellars form entire streets! You’ll spend your last two nights in the beautiful walled town of Retz. Here your hotel is a sophisticated country lodge right by the C13 château.
