Luxury Camping

If you fancy a night under the stars, getting back to nature and relaxing away from hectic modern life, but you're not quite ready to give up all your luxuries, rest assured, you're one of many, and the number of luxury campsites across the UK and Europe is growing rapidly to keep up with demand. Camping no longer has to mean a struggle to light the portable gas stove followed by a night of discomfort, separated only from the hard - or muddy - ground by a thin layer of plastic sheeting. From tipis and yurts to restored caravans, there's no end of options for an unconventional camping break with more than its fair share of creature comforts - often in some of the most beautiful settings around, and we've picked out some of the best (and greenest), below.

For more information and ideas about where to enjoy a luxurious break under canvas, check out some of greentraveller founder Richard Hammond's tips for sustainable travel in the Mediterranean, expert travel writer Catherine Mack's top eco breaks in England, spot the luxury campsites on the Green Travel List and uncover luxury camping in France.
